J. Hofer: I haven't said I believe the Flood story as a fact, but I had always thought it could have happened as it's a story that's been drummed into me all my life.. I'm basically playing devils advocate here. Any evidence that anybody can come up with against the Bible, I'd try and find another way of looking at it, to test things out. I don't fully believe in anything anymore, except for the existence of a God. I've realised recently that I've never really proven anything to myself, I merely accepted things the Watchtower told me whilst surpressing doubts. I'm merely trying to analyse the reasons for my ever having believed the Bible was inspired of God, and whether there is even a small possibility that the Bible can be infallible, before deciding where to go from here, in the sense of belief. Regarding the Flood, as a born-in, I never really questioned even things that I doubted and never logically considered whether stories such as this could be false. Please don't judge me as a fool, but to judge me as hopelessly naive would probably be fair :) Onthewayout, pm for you..

Nobody's mentioned where the gospels contradict each other.. As for knowlege man wouldn't have, how about the description of mountains being formed in Psalm 104:6, 8? And regarding the Flood, Jesus himself referred to it in Matthew 24:37-39 (gospels not disproved by anyone yet), and how can anyone state there has never been a worldwide flood when you consider the amount of water frozen in glaciers and the north/south pole? How do we know that glaciers during the 'ice ages' that shaped the earth were not caused by a great amount of water?

What evidence is there that the gospels contradict each other? Most Christians will tell you that they are the same story, just told from different viewpoints.. To say they are contradictory is to claim there's no basis for faith in Jesus.

Psacramento: Sorry, I should've been more clear, I meant whether God had an influence on what the Bibles authors wrote, or can it be proven from the writings that men made up the concepts/prophecies contained in it? For instance, some claim that the Mosaic law contained principles related to hygiene that were far beyond the scientific knowledge in those days. Was that just chance? Nicolau: In the days when the parting of the Red Sea supposedly occurred, people probably though that that 'miraculous' event was impossible, yet scientists have now discovered the so called 'Moses effect' that shows a powerful enough force could have parted the sea. Quoting our current knowledge of science doesn't really 'disprove' the Bible being inspired.

I'd like to believe that I'm an open minded person, but when I thought about it I realised that I've never seriously considered the possibility of the Bible not being Gods Word. I've been bombarded with evidence of its inspiration, and read most of the Bible (NWT), although not all that deeply as I always believed the scriptures cited in the Watchtower were enough... Can anyone here actually PROVE that the Bible isn't inspired of God, with at least one specific example? Or can it not be proved? All answers welcome :)

To All Elders/MS's/ Publishers Who Come Here
by metatron inin the past, you were told that you have the opportunity to prove the devil a liar.
this is a nonsensical claim, given that about 2000 years of martyrdom by christians has already passed.
there's nothing left to prove or disprove.. however, you have the opportunity to prove that the watchtower society is lying: that their organization is unclean and overrun with corruption - as proven by an endless stream of elders/ms's and publishers who come here, wishing that they could leave.. you also have the opportunity to prove that their published statistics are false - by reporting fake hours and placements.. if they don't like it, too bad.

I know what you're saying, but the report is basically a written statement to say that you've done a certain amount of hours and placements etc. Unless the time you state that you've done was spent on a waste of time activity that still technically could be seen as witnessing (spending 3 hours writing a letter, stood at a bus stop holding a wt magazine, standing outside an empty house on the ministry or something inefficient like that), it's a lie, plain and simple. But perhaps that's what you were referring to.. Please forgive me if I misunderstood what you meant :)

Maybe it's just me, but why would we want to prove the society a liar by lying ourselves? Wouldn't that make us just as bad? I've never made up hours I haven't done, at worst I've 'borrowed' 15 minutes which I knock off next month, which is the same as anything less than an hour carrying over IMO, so the yearly total is true in my case. Probably why I've never been asked to be a MS :)
